POW/MIA Chair Ceremony on October 31, 2014

The POW/MIA chair ceremony at Citrus High School will begin at 6:15 pm on October 31, 2014. Please be at the gate on stadium road on left side no later then 6:00pm. Please wear dark pants and white shirt and vest for ceremony. This is a Major event for the chapter. Any questions call me at 352-464-0863.

Upcoming Events October – December 2014

October 14, 2014 – POW/MIA Chair Presentation
To be held at the monthly Commissioners meeting @ about 1330, we need to be in the building at about 12:30 as the meeting is set to begin at 1300. County commissioner meeting to be held in their chambers located at 110 N. Apopka Ave., Inverness, Fl. 34450

November 11, 2014 – Flanagan Foundation 5K run / 1K walk
At the Inverness “old” courthouse. Volunteers needed to assist with whatever they need assistance with. Look for me in the area of the “old courthouse” (I will be there at about 0630) and we will take it from there. Registration begins at 7AM, race begins at 9AM. The Veterans day parade will begin after the completion of the race/walk.

December 13, 2014 – Wreathes across America
We will be meeting at the Citrus County Fairgrounds parking lot, with Kick stands up doors closed @ 0830 then head out to Bushnell National Cemetery.

December 13, 2014 – Chapter 7 Annual Christmas party
Held at John & Betty Jolicoeur’s house. This year’s event will be catered and cost per person is $12.00. The menu will consist of sandwiches, salad, soda, and assorted other appetizers. There will be no cooking or prep work accomplished the night of the party, therefore freeing up everyone to enjoy the party with the minimal amount of work. Beer will be provided by the host (John), other adult beverages are BYOB. Donations of firewood to feed the “new” fire-pit would be appreciated. Party will commence at about 5PM.

Welcome Home Natalina Pena and Andrew Franklin 8/15/14

A Welcome Home for Army Sergeant (E-5) Natalina Pena and Navy ABE3 (AW/SW) Andrew Franklin (E-4) will take place on Friday August 15, 2014 at the VFW in Hernando Post 4252 (where the Helicopter is). (John tells me the AC has been fixed.)

Dinner will be at 5pm and the program will start at 6pm. Menu will be posted here shortly. You are encouraged to get there early for good seating, as it will be joyfully packed by those who believe in supporting our veterans. If you plan to present something, please see John Stewart or Barbara Mills immediately upon arrival.

Welcome Home on June 27, 2014

A Welcome Home is planned for Friday June 27th at the Hernando VFW on HWY 200 (the Helicopter)
Dinner at 5:00 PM and program starting at 6:00 PM
Our guests of Honor are:
Specialist Chris Dryden 101st Airborne Delta Co. 159th Combat Aviation Brigade graduate of Crystal River High School and served in Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan.
Sgt Ryan Williams 4th Infantry Division Military Police graduate of Crystal River High School and served two tours in Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan.
Dinner will be a Spaghetti with garlic bread, salad and dessert for $7.50
